About the Department
The Department of statistics in Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya came into existence along with the introduction of the science stream in 1992 with the first batch of student in the higher secondary level. The UG course (General) was introduced in the college from the academic session 1995 and the major course was commenced in the year 2011. The strong founding faculty members of the department whose dedication and contribution flourished the department were – Dr. Poresh Chandra Borah, Prof Nobin Dutta Prof Rumi Hazarika, Dr Sanhita Sharma. At present, there are three faculty members in the department. The department offers in the honours and Non honours course in the regular made at the UG level. Assignment, seminars, and group discussions are set in line with the academic. Remedial classes, Mentoring and student’s centric participatory learning attempt to bring out the best in the students.
